A Personal Message from Rob Redenbach

Hello, and welcome. I've written this section to give you an indication of who I am and what I believe is important. This way you can judge for yourself whether or not I may have something of value to offer you.

I live on Australia's Gold Coast, happily married, with five great children. Exercise and health are important to me, as is reading and spending time with my family.

Having traveled to more than thirty countries and lived and worked in over a dozen — including Papua New Guinea, Southern Africa and Iraq — I've come to appreciate the simple things in life while also understanding the importance of decisions and action in determining results.

People often ask me why I’ve done the things I’ve done. It’s a fair question and the answer includes my belief that living is a type of investment, a superannuation if you like, against future regret — and in particular regret that is borne from failing to be a participant. Furthermore, I feel a responsibility to my children to demonstrate that life really is a gift, however, like any gift, it has no value (and is an insult to the giver) if it is nervously guarded and never shown the light of day; if it doesn’t end up worn, enjoyed and a little tattered around the edges, then what was the point?

Doing what I do has exposed me to some truly remarkable people: Olympians, futurists, historians, economists, celebrities. However, it’s not always high-profile individuals who have maximum impact on me. Two examples include Mark McKeon and Tony Mowbray. Mark McKeon talks on health-lifestyle balance; funny, original, informed and engaging Mark is a leader in his field. A successful author and businessman, he is superbly fit, he has a strong marriage and an outstanding relationship with his children. In short, Mark walks his talk.

Tony Mowbray also walks his talk: a survivor of the infamous 1998 Sydney to Hobart yacht race, in which six sailors tragically lost their lives, Tony went on to challenge his skill and confidence to the nth degree by sailing solo and unassisted around the world — and setting a new record in the process. Also a dedicated husband and father, Tony continues to sail head first into life by leading expeditions to Patagonia, Cape Horn and Antarctica. Critics might say the risks someone like Tony takes are unnecessarily dangerous, but to me his actions demonstrate true integrity. He lives and breaths an example of passion, commitment and zest for life. Personally, I think he sets a superb example for his children.

If this makes sense to you, then I'm certain you'll enjoy reading Waveman. Similarly, if you are interested in hiring me to speak at your next event, click here for an indication of the feedback you can expect from conference delegates.
